Connecting your TankMate unit to a WiFi network:

v2 TankMate WiFi Sensors (for v1 units - see here)

Note: iOS or Android app is required for initial set up of your sender unit.

1) Create your account with the TankMate app

iOS or Android app required for initial setup. Download the TankMate app from your app store. Sign up to create your account.

2) Connect the sender unit to your WiFi network
  • Note: 2.4GHz network required.

  • Unscrew the four screws on the lid and turn the sender unit on.

  • The status LED should begin flashing dark blue. (The unit will time-out after 2 minutes. Press RESET to wake if required.)

  • Follow the instructions in the app to connect your sensor.

  • The status LED should blink green briefly, and then change to light blue (cyan) - to indicate a successful WiFi connection.

  • The lid can now be closed, by tightening the four screws. Do not turn the unit off.

NOTE: If the status LED continues to blink green, and turns off after 60 seconds, the network has not connected (e.g. incorrect password entered). See troubleshooting section.

3) Set your tank dimensions in the mobile app
  • Adjust the tank diameter, overflow height and outlet height to suit your tank (see website for common tank sizes). These can be adjusted later.

  • Click “UPDATE” to save your settings

4) Test the WiFi connection at your tank
  • Take the unit to your water tank. Press the RESET button (side of unit), to check for a connection.

  • The status LED should blink green briefly, and then change to light blue (cyan) - to indicate a successful WiFi connection.

5) Additional sensors
  • Repeat these steps to set up a second TankMate sensor

  • You can add an additional sensor on the “Tank Settings” screen in the app - click on “Sensor 1” and “+Add Sensor”.

Note: If your tanks are connected near the base and are balanced (equal level) - you will only require one sensor to monitor the level. Change the “Tank Quantity” option in the app to match your setup.
